25 Ehlanzeni TVET College students benefit from 4IR initiative

In order be a world-class institution that offers 4IR solutions in the Ehlanzeni region, the college believes in working with key stakeholders.

Following the signing of a Memorandum Of Understanding with the Media, Information and Communication Technologies Sector Education and Training Authority (MICT SETA), a partnership was formed with Forge Academy in November 2022.

This in collaboration with the College 4IR Centre (Mlumati Campus), offered a learner-ship programme to equip young people in the Nkomazi region with 4IR skills and enable them to start their businesses.

A group of 25 students were enrolled in a curriculum that included IT fundamentals, introduction to 5G, and digital new business creation. The five-month learner-ship programme included a comprehensive curriculum that covered the major 4IR technologies, including robotics, 3D printing, Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

One of the goals is to provide people with a basic understanding of 4IR technology. To provide participants with the skills they need to apply 4IR solutions in real-world situations. Additionally, it encourages participants’ creativity in using 4IR technologies to address societal issues.

After completing the programme, the students held a graduation ceremony and a hackathon to present their cooperative digital business solutions. They also walked away with some prizes.
