President visits bereaved families after tragic bus incident

President Cyril Ramaphosa visited the bereaved families of the eight people that died in Dumbe, KwaZulu-Natal on their way back from Manifesto Launch in Durban last Sunday.

The President said the African National Congress will assist the families to prepare for the memorial and funeral arrangements yesterday in Mayflower. Speaking to the families and the community at a hall he said, “I thought it was right to visit because I called them to come to Durban and be part of the launch. I felt I had a sense of responsibility to come here because they travelled all the way to listen to me as the President.”

“My heart broke when I learnt about this incident. We are here as leaders of the ANC to comfort the families that have lost their loved ones. I would like to thank the Provincial and regional leadership, branches and Wards for taking their time to attend to the families.of those thatbhave also been injured,” said President Ramaphosa.

He added by saying the organisation will be with the families during this time of distress. “We wish all the survivors who sustained injuries during the accident a speedy recovery.” The President was also accompanied by national and provincial leadership.
