ELUKWATINI – Police are hot on the heels of eight armed suspects who robbed and assaulted a Bangladesh businessman at a local guesthouse on Monday morning.
The suspects reportedly jumped the gate of the guesthouse and tied up the security guard. They then allegedly proceeded to the victim’s house where they broke down the door and forced entry.
According to the police, Ebrar Yousef, who owns a business at the local town, was asleep with his brother when the eight men accosted them and demanded money. Six of the suspects were allegedly armed with pistols while, two were carrying rifles.
“The men allegedly demanded money from the victim, while others searched the house. Both the victim and his brother were assaulted with the back of the firearms on their heads,” said spokesperson for the Elukwatini Police Station, Sergeant Wiseman Nkosi.

The men allegedly took off with R12 000, two Cellphones worth R15 000, a passport and a work permit.
Nkosi revealed that it is the third time Yousef is attacked by armed robbers. The first incident was last year, followed by the second one early this year which prompted him to change residence to the guesthouse.
“No arrests have been made yet. We are appealing with the community to assist with any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects,” added Nkosi.
