Missing Tonga Hospital patient’s body found

TONGA – A woman who was a patient at Tonga Hospital, went missing last week, a few days later, her body was discovered near a sewerage area.

The discovery of 51-year- old Judith Tinana Ntimane’s corpse was made on Wednesday, May 21 during a two-day de- bushing initiative led by the local police and the Community Policing Forum (CPF).

“The deceased was reported missing. It is alleged that she went missing around 10:00 on 13 May 2025, while she was a patient at Tonga Hospital where she had been admitted since May 2. At the time of her disappearance, she was reportedly still dressed in her hospital gown.Following her disappearance, the SAPS, CPF, hospital security personnel, and staff, as well as the victim’s family, conducted a thorough search of all hospital wards, but she was not found,” said Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane.

Her decomposed body was discovered on the second day of the de- bushing operation.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, has commended the collaborative efforts of the police and the community for initiating the de-bushing project which led to the discovery of the deceased. He also extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
