Audiologist advocates for social change

Romanda Hombir, an audiologist, social change- maker and entrepreneur wants to be remembered as a beacon of inspiration. 

The 25 year-old from kaNyamazane currently practicing at a hospital in Edenvale, Gauteng is a Miss World South Africa Top 10 finalist. She says her reason for entering the pageant was to champion the promotion of accessible healthcare, equal opportunities and to encourage positive participation in communities.

“These core principles keep me motivated to show up despite any obstacles I may face. My beauty with a purpose project for Miss World South Africa is titled Caring Purpose. This aims to dismantle barriers towards quality care, create awareness on health needs and provide free consultations to underserved individuals,” says Romanda. 

She also believes every individual deserves quality healthcare, regardless of their circumstances. Her passion and goal is to ignite positive change by serving her community. With the platform and platform she has, she hopes to embody hope, empowerment and positive transformation.

She is currently pursuing her MSc Audiology with the University of Cape Town to add valuable knowledge in the field and help implement intervention to better the wellbeing of senior citizens.
