A chief director from the Department of Education was suspended following premier, Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane’s visit to Russia.

Mtsweni Tsipane’s intervention was prompted by stranded students South African students studying in Russia. Their tuition fees and accommodation were not paid and some were facing eviction.
According to the premier, provincial government has no agreement with the placement agency, Racus.
