MBOMBELA-The filling of critical positions is one of the cardinal pillars of building a capable, ethical and developmental state.
The 7th Administration which was established in July this year, after the elections, expressed commitment to strengthen the capacity of the government by filling critical positions, due to a high vacancy rate. The Premier, Mandla Ndlovu stressed this commitment at the sitting of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature earlier this year.
Following the Premier’s pronouncement, the Provincial Government conducted a recruitment process of filling vacant positions in various departments. These include the appointment of two Heads of Departments for Community Safety, Security and Liaison as well as Economic Development and Tourism.

On Wednesday, the Executive Council (EXCO) approved the appointment of Gloria Mazibuko as Head of the Department for Community Safety, Security and Liaison (DCSSL) and Immy Serakalala as Head of the Department for Economic Development and Tourism (DEDT).
EXCO, in its approval, considered the credentials of both appointments, which include their experiences and their qualifications. “Both Ms. Mazibuko and Ms. Serakalala have a wealth of experience as public servants, which they acquired through occupation of various positions in the hierarchy of the public service. Their reputation as knowledgeable public servants has also worked in their favour,” said EXCO.
Their appointments are with effect from 1 November 2024.
