During a visit to the Gardee family home, minister of police, General Cele briefed the media and said the family need to know who murdered their daughter and why. “Comforting the family is fine, but they expect more than that. We normally give ourselves 72 hours but we will have to reduce the time. We have a criminal that brutally killed a human being. Let us get that person and the suspect will let us know what the motive was,” he said.![]()
The family’s spokesperson, Sinawo Thambo, said Hillary’s death left the family devastated. “It is reassuring that the minister is here. However, it is not surprising because it is part and parcel of his duty. The family has expressed their appreciation and are cooperating with the provincial team,” he said.
