The Department of Home Affairs and the State Information Technology Agency (SITA) have fixed the cable breakage that affected service delivery last Friday, April 1.
Home Affairs Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi has instructed the Department to extend operating hours. This was to ensure that it serviced all clients that visited the offices on Friday.

Minister Motsoaledi said the Department owed it to the public. The extension is meant to compensate for the unfortunate network failure incident.

“The Department opened until 18:30pm on Friday and everyone who is in the office by this time was assisted. The Department appreciates the patience of the public. It also apologises for the inconvenience caused by the unfortunate network failure,” read the department’s statement.
