Police in Waterval Boven are investigating an inquest following an incident in which a man was attacked and killed by pit bulls early this morning.
According to information received, at approximately 05:10am police were called to an incident where a man had allegedly been attacked and killed by pit bulls.
Upon arrival at the scene, police and Emergency Medical Services found the lifeless body of a man lying on the road next to a scrapyard.
Preliminary investigations revealed that two pit bulls and three other dogs belong to the owner of the scrapyard. The pit bulls were reportedly found with blood on their mouths.

The victim was certified dead at the scene and was later identified by his family.
Further investigation indicates that the incident occurred at around 02:00am when the deceased was passing by the premises and the dogs allegedly escaped from the yard.
It was also established that the deceased was a patient with mental health challenges. Investigations are ongoing.
