MEC hails the Class of 2024 for outstanding achievement

The MEC for Education, Cathy Dlamini has lauded the class of 2024 for their exceptional commitment, determination and hardwork towards their studies.

This was during the official announcement of the 2024 Matric Results Announcement held at the Banquet Hall, Nkangala District Municipality in Middelburg.

She highlighted the need to cast a special focus on impoverished communities in order to improve the quality of their education.
Speaking at the event, MEC Dlamini further expressed her pride at the province’s outstanding milestone.

“These results give us hope for a brighter future for all our children. We celebrate, not only the achievements of the class of 2024, but also the collective effort that made this success possible”

The province recorded an astounding 84.9% pass rate for the class of 2024, indicating an increase from the 77% pass rate obtained in 2023. At least more than 27 000 learners out of approximately 64 000 candidates who sat for the National Senior Certificate, secured Bachelor passes.

The Ehlanzeni District emerged as the best performing district with 88.4%, followed by Gert Sibande and Nkangala Districts.
Meanwhile, out of the 17 Municipalities, Steve Tshwete Local Municipality obtained the top position in the province after constituting a 92.9% pass rate.

Out of over 500 schools in the province, only 58 recorded a 100% pass rate.Notably, there are some schools within the province that made a remarkable improvement on learners’ performances. This includes Madoda Secondary School in Siyabuswa which recorded an improvement of 62%, thus obtaining a 90% pass rate. The overall best school for 2024 provincial is Hoerskool Nelspruit.

The celebration concluded with the province’s best learners receiving gifts, vouchers, and bursaries for their great achievement in various categories.
