More evidence brought forward in police commander’s murder case

An intense investigation by the Hawks Secunda based Serious Organised Crime Investigation on the murder case of Lieutenant Colonel Piet Pretorius has exposed more alleged criminal activities.

One of the accused was a robbery victim in Witbank during 2018, where he was robbed off a BMW. The robbed BMW is identical to the one that was found torched in Ermelo after it was suspected to have been used as a gateway vehicle during the murder of Lieutenant Colonel Pretorius.

The investigating team visited the residence of one of the murder suspects. Three BMWs were found on the premises. Investigation revealed that one of the BMW vehicles found at the suspect’s residence was the same vehicle that was reportedly robbed from the suspect in Witbank six years ago. Preliminary investigations revealed that the Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) were tampered with.

In addition, 50 license discs and documents were also found in his premises. Some of the license discs documents were already used, whilst some were still intact. The suspected BMW 325i, as well as the vehicle documents, were seized, and an inquiry was registered for further investigation.

They will be back in court on Monday, 27 January where the suspects are expected to make their second appearance.
