MP ready to showcase province at IMEX in Germany

The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) is ready to showcase the province as a preferred business events destination at the IMEX taking place in Frankfurt, Germany from 23 -25 May 2023.

Mpumalanga will showcase the province’s offerings under the South African National Convention Bureau. IMEX Frankfurt is one of the world’s leading trade shows for the meetings, incentive, conferences and events market. The show brings together global event planners and buyers with significant buying power.

This year’s show is expected to draw over 3 500 global exhibitors.This is in a comprehensive range featuring provincial tourism agencies, international hotel companies, airlines, destination management companies, buyers and many more.

“MTPA will use this show as a platform to showcase the best of Mpumalanga in terms of conferencing, events and tourism offerings available in the province.The purpose of Mpumalanga taking part in this is to meet with key industry stakeholders and enhance our presence within the German market”, said Mduduzi Vilakazi, Acting CEO of the MTPA.

“Germany is one of Mpumalanga’s key tourist markets. As a province, we want to enhance our marketing efforts in this market through such shows as the IMEX as well as through the City-to-City tour to Germany which forms part of our future plans.These initiatives will see Mpumalanga Province taking some of the local tour operators with the intention to promote the destination”, added Vilakazi.

South Africa will have a representation of different tourism businesses hosted by the South African National Convention Bureau. This platform will reaffirm our country’s credibility and commitment to growing business events.

The Mpumalanga delegation will be led by the Premier of Mpumalanga, accompanied by MECs for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism as well as Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs.
