What better way to celebrate the 10th Mpumalanga Cultural Xperience than with a song?
The wait is finally over as “Phuma Langa” was released and officially launched on Friday, October 3.
This was in collaboration with the Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation, in collaboration with Music Creatives Workshop by Redamancy Studios.
The song features young and upcoming artists from across the province. Founder of the Music Creatives Workshop, Zodwa Matsebula-Mnguni said it was quite an interesting experience during the two-day recording of the song.
“We selected winners from the workshop’s competition to be part of the song. This includes musicians with different cultural backgrounds who came up with a unique sound.”

“It was quite challenging because there are rappers, poets and others who sing different genres, but we eventually got it right and the song is out and available on various streaming platforms. I am grateful to the department for giving artists this opportunity,” said an excited Zoe.
An EP with five tracks will soon be released, as well as the Phuma Langa music video. Launched in 2015 to promote social cohesion, tourism, and the arts, MPUCE has grown to become South Africa’s largest cultural festival. It features a street carnival, comedy show, music festivals, workshops, and a prestigious gospel music awards show. These events are held across all districts of the province. This year it will take place from November 27 to December 7.
