A 37-year-old man is expected to appear in court today for allegedly raping a pensioner in Hlamalani near Bushbuckridge on Saturday, 8 February.
It is reported that the victim (60), left home and went to drop her personal belongings nearby. On her way back, she met the suspect who then allegedly grabbed and raped her.
Police say during the incident the woman’s grandson who was looking for her appeared and caught the suspect in the act. “When the suspect noticed the woman’s grandson, he quickly stood up and fled.The matter was reported to the Police and the suspect was traced and then arrested,” reads a statement.

He is expected to appear in the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court facing a rape charge.
