Pienaar residents say they fear for their children’s safety following the discovery of two children’s buried bodies last week.
This comes after a three year- old girl, Peaceful Khoza went missing on Wednesday, July 3 and was found murdered and buried on the same day. An 18 year- old suspect was apprehended by the community leading to his confession of the murder of not only the girl but Junior Mabandla (6) who went missing a month ago.
Despite several attempts made by the police to intensify the search for Mabandla, he could not be found. It is alleged that on the day, the suspect pointed out a shallow grave where he was buried.

Community members who spoke to the media expressed concerns over the safety of their children stating that it was becoming difficult to even sleep at night.
Resident, Rose Ndlovu says although she is relieved that Junior was found, she is still reeling from shock. ” I am not related to the family but this has touched me deeply. I am struggling to even eat, that is how bad this situation is,” she said.

Meanwhile, MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison Jackie Macie applauded the police for the breakthrough and combating crime. “It is imperative that members of our community actively participate in the fight against crime. Often, the criminals we unknowingly shield within our communities pose significant threats to our safety,” he said.
