Provincial teams and Covid-19

Provincial teams who ply their trade in the GladAfrica Championship confirmed players
who tested positive Coronavirus recently.
KwaNdebele-based TS Galaxy, released a statement on June 20 confirming three players
who tested positive. However, the players were not identified.
“The Club however is pleased to confirm that all three players are asymptomatic and are
currently in isolation, taking serious precaution on their journey to recovery,” read the
statement.

Meanwhile, Mbombela-based TS Sporting also released a statement on June 26 and
confirmed one player who tested positive. Mbombela United has not reported a positive
case.
“The player is monitored by health officials of the department and is in self-isolation,” said
the club’s general manager, Vusi Ntimane.
Sporting and Galaxy had their hands full off the pitch with their community outreach
programmes. The team partnered with MTN to distribute food parcels and hygiene parcels
to families in need. The club said KwaNdebele was one of the areas that has been the
hardest hit by the lockdown.

The team also announced the signing of 22-year-old Jomo Cosmos goal-minder, Melusi
Buthelezi on June 15. He’ll be with the outfit for the next three seasons.
On the other end in the Lowveld, Sporting released eight players including former Bidvest
Wits player, Sfiso Myeni with immediate effect to trim the squad for the remaining seven
games.
Myeni, who enjoyed a brief spell at the club, was a free agent before he could join Abantu
