SASSA calls on notified beneficiaries to review grants

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is encouraging all beneficiaries who have received SMS notifications and whose social grants were put on delayed payments to visit their SASSA nearest offices to review their grants for the purpose of updating, confirming their personal and financial circumstances.

The agency uses recorded contacts details to communicate with beneficiaries whenever there are changes and circumstances that will affect the grants of beneficiaries.

SASSA also reminds all beneficiaries to immediately report any changes in their financial and personal circumstances. Currently the agency is reviewing social grants beneficiaries verifying their continued eligibility for social assistance. This is an annual programme as required by the Social Assistance Act 14 (5). 

Mpumalanga progress on identified social grant review campaign is as follows, with a target of 7936 of beneficiaries with undeclared income and to date those who have reported for reviews is only 740 and has been processed, Target for Centenarians is 810 and reviewed to date is 299 and the target for Institution, i.e. beneficiaries accommodated at institutions is 729 and reviewed to date is 203.

Other categories of beneficiaries identified for reviews have been identified and will be processed throughout the year

SASSA is advising all beneficiaries due to reviews that failure to respond to or attend a scheduled social grant review may result in the suspension or termination of the social grant until the review has been completed, and eligibility reconfirmed. These social grant reviews are taking place in SASSA offices.
