The Boschfontein Regional Court handed down the sentence on Monday, October 5, 2026. The identity of the perpetrator is withheld to protect the victims.

The court heard that both incidents happened in 2022 at their parental home.

In the first incident, a 12-year-old girl was molested by her father. In the second incident, her 8-year-old sister was raped while sleeping in the same bed with both parents.

The crimes were only reported at Malelane Police Station on 18 October 2024. The father was arrested the next day, on 19 October 2024.

The case was investigated by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit.

On Monday, the court sentenced him as follows:

• Count 1 – Rape: 15 years direct imprisonment
• Count 2 – Sexual Assault: 7 years direct imprisonment

The court ordered that his name be entered into the National Register for Sex Offenders.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Apaphia Modise, has welcomed the sentence.

“This is a betrayal of trust by a father who was supposed to protect his own children. We welcome this lengthy sentence and the fact that a predator has been removed from society. We hope that this sentence sends a strong message that crimes against children will never be tolerated,” said Modise.

She commended the victims for their bravery, the family and the school for reporting the matter, and Warrant Officer Dladla for his thorough investigation that led to the conviction.

The 39 year-old man will spend 10 years in prison after he was sentenced on Monday, October 28 for the rape of his friend’s wife.

Reports reveal that on the day, the victim felt tired and decided to call it a day. They all got into a car and dropped her at home. Thereafter they went back for entertainment and the house was locked by the victim’s husband.

It was further revealed in court that the accused decided to go back to the house alone and somehow got hold of the house keys then got inside the room where the woman was asleep. It was during this time when the accused raped the victim.

The incident was reported to the police and the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit was assigned to probe. An investigation was conducted and it led to the arrest of the accused.
