The 29 year-old traffic official was as arrested on Friday, July 28 following a failed Cash-In-Transit Heist in Hazyview. Reports reveal that last Thursday Thursday at around 13:30,  a vehicle belonging to Fidelity Security Services was heading to Hazyview when the incident occurred.

The vehicle was escorted by authorities when it was crashed into by a sedan and was followed by gunshots resulting in two guards being  injured and hospitalised. According to investigations, the suspects fled the scene.Witnesses indicated that the vehicle of the accused was seen transporting the suspect and firearms which were used during the failed heist.

The team of investigators followed up information which led to the arrest of Nyalunga after stolen vehicles which were also spotted at the crime scene were found parked in her yard. The vehicles were confiscated and the suspect was also arrested. During preliminary investigations it was also discovered that the vehicles recovered were stolen at Mhala in June 2023 and another at Vosloorus, Gauteng in February 2021.

“The suspect made her first appearance on Monday July 31 facing charges of conspiracy to commit crime, robbery under aggravating circumstances, attempted murder,  unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition,” said the Hawks‘ provincial spokesperson, Captain Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi.

Her bail application was postponed to today for continuation and judgement in the White River Magistrate’s Court.
