The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela issued a stern reminder to the men and women in Blue about the South African Police Service’s Code of Conduct.

The Code of Conduct includes guidelines on impartiality, neutrality, as well as respect for human rights, fairness, equity and proper use of authority.
She said residents of Mpumalanga must feel safe and have confidence in the Police, especially during this important democratic process. The SAPS plays a vital role in ensuring that the 2024 National and Provincial Elections are free, fair and credible.

As expected, the police will be vigilant, proactive and responsive to any incidence that may arise. They will be working closely with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), as well as other stakeholders in ensuring a smooth and successful election day.

Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela emphasized that any SAPS member who violates the Code of Conduct will face severe consequences as there will be no tolerance for any form of misconduct. “Members are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ensure that the elections are conducted in a peaceful and conducive environment,” said Manamela.
