According to the police, three armed men emerged from nowhere and randomly shot at the victim before they fled the scene on foot. Mahlangu (Rodger Ntuli) who was the Chairperson of KwaNdebele United Local and Long Distance Taxi Association (KULLDTA).

Public Works, Road and Transport MEC Mohita Latchminarain was saddened about the killing. “It is heart-breaking to lose a breadwinner who is striving to provide for his family in such a horrific way. We cannot allow criminals to take a human life and get away with it. SAPS must work hard and not to leave any stone unturned. The perpetrators must be put behind bars,” said the MEC.
