“The Area Commissioner informed Management during a performance review meeting that extreme measures need to be implored to ensure that officials are not exposed to Covid19 in the workplace. We have been delegated as Area Commissioners to implement the reduction of staff on duty directive. I therefore appeal to all officials to refrain from engaging in activities which increases their chances of infection. This act might nullify the measures put in place by the department to combat the spread of the pandemic,” he said.

The measures that have been put include the reduction of staff on duty to minimize contact, appointment of compliance officers in all the centres to handle Covid-19 related matters, daily screening of officials before entering the premises, installation of wall mounted sanitizing booths at all access points and placing sanitisers in each state vehicle. The department also has assured that security is a priority and will not be compromised.
