Armed men rob Carolina Hospital patients and staff

The Carolina Hospital staff and patients were under attack by robbers Saturday morning.
It is alleged that a group of armed men stormed the hospital at 01:00am and terrorised the staff and patients, vandalising medical equipment and furniture in the casualty unit.
According to yhe department, no one was harmed during the attack. Police were called to provide back up to the security guardsl. The department is yet to determine the costs of the damaged equipment and property. Patients and some staff member’s reported their stolen items.
“In today’s meeting we agreed to have members of the SAPS patrolling the hospital on a hourly basis, especially on weekends. We are going to also provide counseling to the affected staff and patients, including the security officers who were on duty. We will enhance security measures by installing buglar doors on the doors of Nurses Duty Room,” said the MEC Sasekani Manzini.
She called on communities to work with the police and the management of the hospital in protecting the hospital staff and patients. “We are disturbed by the incident, and we appeal to all the members of the community to work with the Department and SAPS.”
