MAFUBE VILLAGE- Premier, Mandla Ndlovu says drivers need to play their parental role when transporting children.
This was during the mass funeral for the six learners of Morélig Combined School who lost their lives in a bus and train collision a week ago.
Ndlovu told mourners and other guests who had attended the funeral that government will enhance safety measures for scholar transport. “We are inviting our communities and learners to alert us on any suspicious or irregular behaviour. We need to conduct regular inspections to ensure that scholar transport vehicles are roadworthy. We will not hesitate to scrap off any vehicle that is not roadworthy.”

He also emphasised on the issue of drivers considering the children using their transport not just as passengers.”Children have the right to say no to bad driving, overloading, speeding, drinking and driving. I assure the parents that the cause of the crash will be investigated,” he said.
