Mabuza who was sworn on Wednesday morning replaces Fidel Mlombo who is the former Chief Whip in the Provincial Legislature. She is an NEC member of The South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO). She is also a Regional Executive Committee Member of the ANC in Nkangala.

The ANC welcomed Mabuza’s appointment stating that she comes with experience of having served as a Mayor of both a District and Local Municipality.
“We have no doubt that her experience will be useful in her new role. We equally thank Cde. Fidel Mlombo for the sterling job he has done whilst serving in the Executive Council. It should therefore be known that the announced reconfiguration is not informed by the performance of Cde. Fidel Mlombo as an MEC, but to comply with the ANC NEC decision, that where the Premier is male, there must be a 60% representation of women in the Executive Council. The ANC will continue to use the skills and expertise of Cde. Fidel Mlombo in the different pillars of social transformation,” reads a statement.
