Kicking off the new year with a bang, local hip-hop sensation Collen Sithole, known by his stage name Scolly, is gearing up to release his new EP, titled “1245 Love,” in May 2025.
This masterfully crafted 7-track EP will showcase Sithole’s impressive vocal range, introspective lyrics, and genre-bending style, which blends elements of pop, Afro-pop, and Amapiano.
“I think this EP is going to be a game-changer for me as I’ve evolved from being just a kasi rapper to incorporating melodic lyrics and experimenting with different sounds. This time around, I have added melodic lyrics as well as beats inspired by Afro-pop and Amapiano,” he said.
The 32-year-old artist has been making waves in the local music scene and he has worked with numerous artists in Mpumalanga, including the legendary DJ Sdunkero and Any Kany. His love for music developed at an early age as he started writing his own kwaito lyrics inspired by artists such as Zola 7, Mapaputsi, Mafikizolo, Malaika, and the late Pro Kid.

In 2007, the star made his debut song, which gained attention in his neighborhood. Two years later, he collaborated with Ku-Dude and released a hit produced by DJ Stamer. The song gained popularity around town. His big break came in 2009 when he was featured on the hit single “Siyashova” by M’ERK SA and DJ Stamer, which made him popular throughout the Mpumalanga province and other parts of the country.
With his upcoming EP, he is poised to take his career to the next level, with industry insiders and fans eagerly anticipating its release. In an interview with the Mpumalanga Mirror, the local artist revealed that he hopes to collaborate with major industry stars and brands in the future. “Working with big artists will take my career to the next level by gaining more recognition,” added Sithole.
