ELUKWATINI – Police are investigating a murder case after a man discovered his mother killed and hidden under the bed inside her house at the Julius Mkhonto Area on Monday.
According to the police, the woman who was in her 60s was last seen around her house on Saturday. A neighbor allegedly went to check on the woman on Monday.
“After not receiving a response while knocking at the door, the neighbor decided to peep on the window and realized that the room was ransacked. The neighbor then called the woman’s son,” said spokesperson for Elukwatini Police Station , Sergeant Wiseman Nkosi.
Nkosi said when the man arrived at his mother’s house, he broke down the door to gain entry. When searching the house, he reportedly found his mother’s lifeless body naked, bruised and bleeding from her nose and private part. The body was hidden under her bed with blankets.

“Police were called and other relevant stakeholders. The woman was certified dead on the scene. She is also suspected of being raped judging from the nature of her bruises, ” added Nkosi.
It was also discovered that items including a set of new pots, cellphones, a television and her ID card were missing. A 35-year-old was taken for questioning following preliminary investigation. No arrests have been made yet.
“Any information that can assist in solving this heinous act would be appreciated and treated with utmost confidentiality,” said Nkosi.
