ELUKWATINI – A 39-year-old cashier at the Elukwatini Traffic Department was released on bail on Wednesday after being arrested for possession of suspected stolen vehicle.
The official was arrested at her work place on Monday after police received a tip off about a suspecious car parked outside the traffic department premises.
According to spokesperson for the Elukwatini Police Station, Sergeant Wiseman Nkosi, the police initiated an investigation which led to the arrest of the woman.

“When the vehicle was tested, it reflected positive, with a Pietermaritzburg case number,” said Nkosi.
Furthermore, Nkosi revealed that the registration number of the vehicle did not correspond with the vehicle identification number.
“The registration number reflected that it belonged to a caravan,” he added.
The driver of the vehicle at the time of the investigation was the traffic department official who was eventually apprehended. She appeared before the Elukwatini Magistrate’s Court and was granted R2000 bail. She is expected to appear before court again on 15 May.
