ANC Mpumalanga ready for Local Government Elections

MBOMBELA – Following a two-day Provincial General Council (PGC) over the weekend, the African National Congress says it will ensure it retains all its municipalities in the upcoming local government elections next year.

This is according to Chairperson, Mandla Ndlovu, who addressed the media after concluding the PGC at Mbombela Stadium.
Ndlovu said with its election machinery well oiled, the party will attain victory.

He emphasised on the correlation between the strength of the organisation and the outcome of the election, stating that if structures are weak, they will not be able to mount a successful campaign.

“We have to build strong branches. Our branches are the frontline of the ANC. They serve as a direct link to people and the organisation. Let us empower branches with Human Resources, training and necessary support in order for them to engage effectively with communities,” he said.

Ndlovu added that he is confident it would yield positive results as all elected RECs have been deployed to convene sub-regions.
“We know we will have strong branches of the ANC that will be ready to face Local Government Elections.”

Airing his views on the outcomes of the PGC, SANCO’s Provincial Secretary, Linda Dlamini expressed the importance of keeping track of the resolutions raised during the PGC.

“The issues raised that include the lack of water, illegal immigration and the high cost of electricity, are of operation and confrontation. We are pre-occupied with defending Abahlali and we are hopeful that the ANC must walk the talk and implement all the resolutions made. “It is no longer an issue of having a talk show, but this is a platform that should be taken in the concept of accelerating the national democratic efforts,” concluded Dlamini.
