Mpumalanga Cycle Tour to kick off in Loskopdam

The Annual Mpumalanga Cycle Tour will be kicking off on Tuesday, August 3 at Loskopdam, a Forever Resort.

This will be the sixth edition of the Tour which has attracted some of the top cyclists in the country. It also launched careers of others such as Willie Smit who is currently plying his trade in Europe.

“As a Department, we are excited about hosting another Mpumalanga Cycle Tour after a year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Tour will test cyclists’ skills and prepare them for the gruelling cycling season that lies ahead. This year’s Tour features five stages and will cover 584 kilometres. We request motorists to exercise caution on the roads to ensure the safety of cyclists,” said the department’s spokesperson, Sibongile Nkosi who also pointed out that the race will cause minor traffic disruptions on Mpumalanga roads.

DETAILS OF THE RACE IS AS FOLLOWS:

Stage 1, August 31 (Tuesday) at 09:00: Loskopdam – Badplaas, Stage 2, September 1 (Wednesday) at 08:30: Badplaas – Mbombela, Stage 3, September 2 (Thursday) at 08:00: Casterbridge – Sabie – Long Tom Pass – Casterbridge, Stage 4, September 3 (Friday) at 07:30: Casterbridge – Hazyview – Casterbridge Stage 5, September 4 (Saturday) at 07:30: Casterbridge – Sudwala – Casterbridge. The race will end on Saturday, September 4 at Casterbridge, White River.
