Emalahleni Local Municipality has a new mayor following the untimely passing of Linah Malatjie.
Cornelia Ntombikayise Nkalitshana was sworn in as the new mayor yesterday. This is after the ANC Provincial Executive committee convened a special meeting to process the deployment of a new mayor.

“After a robust selection process that included interviews, as outlined by the National Executive Committee guidelines of selecting mayors. The PEC resolved to deploy Cde Cornelia Ntombikayise Nkalitshana, affectionately known as Cde Connie. She was serving as a Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) responsible for Finance. She also served Corporate Affairs, Technical Services and a Chief Whip,” read the statement.

Mayor Nkalitshana has Executive Leadership certificates she completed in Public Administration, Local Economic Development and Municipal Finance.
“The ANC wishes Cde Connie, the Mayoral Committee she will appoint, and the entire council she will lead in their term of office. They will serve the people of Emalahleni with diligence and integrity. We trust they will do their best to respond to needs of the people and revive the vibrant economy of Emalahleni.”
