Banyana Banyana to face off with Tanzania

Banyana Banyana will play against Tanzania in the Olympics games qualifier match at Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday, February 27.

With all eyes set on the Paris Olympic Games later this year, a lot is at stake and the away leg against Tanzania will be crucial to amplify the South African senior women’s team’s confidence ahead of return leg at home. Banyana arrived in Tanzania on Tuesday afternoon for camping in preparation for tomorrow.

Midfielder Thalea Smidt, makes her return to the team having last featured in the 2023 COSAFA Cup. “I would say the Olympics are on every player’s list and it’s important to focus on this first leg game against Tanzania,” said Smidt.

“Everyone has been working hard, the intensity has been high and we know what is expected from us.”

The senior women’s team will have to seal their qualification at Mbombela Stadium. Tickets are selling at R50 and R20 for children at Computicket.
