Bodies of foreign nationals found floating in Nkomazi River

ELUKWATINI – Three bodies were retrieved from the Nkomazi River by SAPS divers at a local game reserve at Elukwatini last week Friday, August 22.

According to the police, the three males are Zimbabwean nationals and had no visible injuries. They were reported missing by residents. “The complainants indicated that the three had informed them that they were heading to the game reserve, but strangely, they never returned,” reads the statement.

Police say after communicating with the game reserve officials, they were informed about some individuals who frequently gain entry into the premises without authorisation. “About a week ago, there were some people that were spotted at the game reserve, but fled upon noticing the authorities and were never seen again. It was during this time when the SAPS members went to check where they were last seen.”

The police noticed three bodies floating in the Nkomazi River. A Search and Rescue team as well as Divers, were summoned to the scene, and the three bodies were retrieved from the river. A an inquest case is being probed in order to establish the cause of death.
