The much-loved telenovela, Diepcity has been canned following two seasons on Mzansi Magic’s channel 161.
Production company, Black Brain Pictures, released they envisioned a press statement stating the programme for only two years. The contract has also ended with Mzansi Magic. Its last episode on March 3 next year.

“DiepCity fans have played a big role in the success of the show over the past two years. We are thankful for their support. The contract was supposed to be for one year, to stabilise the 8.30pm slot for Mzansi Magic. However, it was so successful they gave us another year. Now we have so many other big things we’re doing. For me, the exciting part is what’s coming next,” said Creative Director Mandla Ngcongwane.

Ngcongwane revealed that Black Brain is has big shows in the piplines. “We are working on a couple of movies and other huge international projects. That’s part of the reason we’re okay with stopping the show after the second season. We’ve got a big series that we’re working on. It’s going to be broadcast on an international platform. We want to export our work. South African actors should not only have the South African platform. We want to develop them for global consumption.”
