OSHOEK – Gert Sibande and Ehlanzeni District Municipalities in conjunction with Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency came bearing gifts to motorists at the Oshoek Border Post today, during their festive campaign.
The aim of the campaign was to encourage motorists coming out of the Kingdom of eSwatini into South Africa. They should adhere to road safety rules and and to consider the various tourism destinations in the province.

Ehlanzeni MMC for Economic Development Phineas Silowe said that the campaign was crucial especially, at this time of the year to promote tourism in the different local municipalities under Ehlanzeni.
“We are adamant to lure tourists to the different destinations as envisioned by our Premier. We are handing out pamphlets with information on the many tourism places they could explore this season. We are also ensuring them of the safety measures put in place to ensure that they have a peaceful and pleasurable time,” said Silowe.
Tourism Ambassador Pretty Mhlongo said the campaign has been a success.
“I’ve spoken to tourists from the US and one of them said they frequent the country often. They were happy and loved our country. We gave them maps and pamphlets with all the tourist attractions,” she said.

Gert Sibande District Municipality Manager for Planning and Economic Development and Innovation, Pretty Chiloane said the campaign has been running for some years during Easter and the festive season.
“We have seen the success of the campaign through the growing numbers of tourists in our district and province,” added Chiloane.
