Gert Mayor gives back on his birthday

CAROLINA – Gert Sibande District Municipality Mayor, Walter Mngomezulu celebrated his birthday by giving back to children living with disabilities from the Lwazi Special Development Centre at the Municipal Town Hall on May 3.

Mngomezulu accompanied by officials and other stakeholders, held a special luncheon with the children, their families and the staff of the centre.

Furthermore, he donated food parcels to the centre through the support of Ilima Coal Mine.

“We appreciate the generous contribution of food parcels from the mine, which brought relief and happiness to many families in attendance. Their ongoing commitment to community upliftment is deeply appreciated”, he said.

A local social worker Pearl Ginindza, who also attended the birthday celebration confirmed that the centre was registered and that monitoring and support services had been conducted.
She also added that it rendered relevant stimulation services to children with disabilities, including those with autism.

“This celebration was not just about me but it was about sharing a moment of joy and recognition with a community that continues to inspire hope and purpose. Let us remain committed to building inclusive, supportive spaces for all, said Mngomezulu.
