MACHADODORP- A 40-year-old man has been arrested for murder after he handed himself for allegedly killing his girlfriend.
On Tuesday, 10 March the suspect arrived at the Machadodorp Police Station, where he reported that he had killed his girlfriend leading the police to where the body was.
Police questioned the suspect about the whereabouts of the victim’s body. He informed them that he had left the body in the veld but had been returning to the location daily to check on it. The suspect further indicated that he was willing to take police to the scene.
“The suspect was accompanied the suspect to a farm, where he pointed out the body of a female believed to be the victim. The body was found on the ground, uncovered and facing upwards, still clothed in blue jeans and a khaki T-shirt, without shoes.
Approximately 20 metres from the body, police also discovered a shallow grave, which is believed to have been dug with the intention of burying the deceased.

The suspect alleged that he killed the victim on the farm. He was immediately placed under arrest for murder.
Further investigations led police to the suspect’s residence in Emthonjeni, Machadodorp, where blood-stained clothing belonging to the suspect was discovered and seized.
According to the report, the incident occurred last Saturday at around 16:00, following an argument between the couple. The suspect was expected to appear at the Belfast Magistrate’s Court yesterday facing a murder charge.
