MTPA attains second clean audit

MBOMBELA – The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency has attained a clean audit report opinion from the Auditor-General for the second consecutive year.

The Board and Executive Management of MTPA announced this. The MTPA is an entity of the Department of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism. It is tasked with the responsibility to provide sustainable management and promotion of tourism and nature conservation in the province.

“Achieving this clean audit for the second time in a row is a positive milestone for the entity. As the board, we are delighted with this achievement. It confirms our commitment to position the MTPA and further provides confidence in the work that is done by the entity.

The audit confirms that the Board and Executive Management are maintaining public trust in spending public money. Since the clean audit from the previous financial year, the Executive Management has worked hard to ensure that internal controls are strengthened. We continue to strive for good corporate governance and financial management,” said Victor Mashego.

“A second clean audit outcome shows the determination and commitment by Team MTPA despite the financial pressures it faces. The Auditor-General has commended the Executive Management. The new CEO of MTPA said they implemented audit action plans and improved internal processes with stricter controls.”

“We remain committed and steadfast to uphold a positive image for the entity. We are confident that working together with stakeholders in tourism and conservation will take the MTPA to greater heights,” said new CEO Mduduzi Vilakazi.
