As of yesterday, South Africans no longer need to wear masks indoors in public settings.
Limits on gatherings, and border checks – including for vaccination status – have also been dropped. This is according to a Government Gazette notice dated 22/06/2022 that was signed off by Health minister, Dr Joe Phaahla.

The notice states that section 16A, 16B AND 16C, will be repeal regulations relating to the Surveillance and control of Notable Medical Conditions

Minister Phaahla is expected to hold a media briefing together with the minister of the Presidency, Mondli Gungubele today. The briefing will outline the cabinet’s deliberations after the health department advised that Covid-19 restrictions should be dropped.
