Police spokesperson Lt-Col Jabu Ndubane expressed confidence in the case, stating, “As you know, a lot of people have passed on, which raises questions about whether the suspect acted alone. Although the investigation is ongoing, the suspect has already made a confession.”

Ndubane hinted at potential additional arrests, urging the community to come forward with information to aid the ongoing investigation.

The suspect’s legal representative, Nkosimphile Maluka, declined to comment on the case’s strength, citing the need for further consultation with his client. “The state is best positioned to determine the case’s merit,” Maluka noted.
