Police probe two GBV related murder incidents

Police in the province are investigating two separate incidents of Gender-Based Violence related murders that occurred in Masoyi and Vosman, where one victim was stabbed and another shot.

In the first incident, which occurred on 27 October 2025 around 07:30 at Jerusalem Trust in Masoyi, near a tavern, police received information about a woman (22) who had been stabbed by her boyfriend. Upon arrival, police found the victim lying on the front lawn of the suspect’s residence with multiple stab wounds on the neck. She was certified dead on the scene by Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

According to police, the suspect’s father informed police that his son had stabbed his girlfriend during a domestic argument. He further indicated that the suspect was hiding in a locked room. Police managed to open the door and apprehend the suspect who had sustained injuries. He placed under arrest for murderand taken to hospital under police guard. He will appear in court soon.

In the second incident, which took place on 26 October 2025 around 21:00 in Vosman, police responded to a complaint of domestic violence. Upon arrival, officers found a group of people outside the house. The homeowner led police to the back room occupied by a tenant. Inside, officers discovered the body of a female lying on a bed with a gunshot wound to the chest.

They also found a male lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to the head. He was still gasping for air, with a firearm lying beside him. Paramedics were summoned to the scene but certified both the male and the female deceased upon arrival.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the male suspect shot the female before turning the firearm on himself. A case of murder and inquest has been opened.
