They attacked police officers while responding to a business robbery incident in Newskom on Monday.
The incident took place around the early hours of the morning where police were showered with bullets. According to a report, eight armed suspects ambushed the officers who fired shots at them.

A sergeant sustained injuries on the upper body after they shot him. They also damaged a side window of a police van during the shooting.
Police provincial spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said police discovered the suspects detonated explosives to gain entry at the scene of the robbery.

“An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen. Other items to the total value of about R6600, including a Samsung cellphone, a speed-point machine and a hair-cutter. A manhunt for these suspects has since been launched,” said Brigadier Mohlala.
