Seven suspects facing two counts of murder, attempted murder, kidnapping and defeating the ends of justice will appear in the Piet Retief Magistrate’s Court today.
This is after three men were assaulted near a farm at Dirkiesdorp on August 9 2020, where two succumbed to their injuries while the other survived. According to police, their court appearance comes after an intensive investigation whereby three Thwala brothers were driving a red Toyota Corolla between Dirkiesdorp and Driefontein.
They were accused of stealing sheep by two suspects who emerged when their vehicle got a tyre puncture. The suspects questioned the trio and subsequently tied them up before assaulting the two brothers leaving the two dead while the other sustained serious injuries.
The incident was reported to police for investigation. Seven men were arrested on May 28. Meanwhile, the Coka brothers case was postponed to June 10. Three of the suspects are also linked to the murder of the Thwala brothers. The five suspects in the Coka brothers case were granted R10 000 bail each at the same court.
