KWAMHLANGA- An investigation is underway following a deadly incident that took place in Suncity A in Kwamhlanga earlier today.
Police say a female police constable was reportedly shot and sustained some injuries while her 69 year-old mother succumbed to injuries after being shot. Meanwhile, a male constable (30) has died from gunshot wound during the incident.
According to reports, the two constables were an item.
“The police in Kwamhlanga received a complaint about a shooting and upon arrival they found the body of the old woman with gunshot wounds. At the crime scene, police also found the body of the male constable who had also succumbed to gunshot wounds. The two were certified dead by the paramedics who also attended the scene. Meanwhile, the female constable was taken to hospital for medical treatment after being reportedly shot as well. Two firearms, believed to be that of the state, as well as some cartridges were collected at the crime scene,” said police spokesperson, Brigadier Donald Mdluli.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has been notified about the incident and officials are conducting investigations.
Brigadier Mdluli said the motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage and arrests have been made so far.
