MBOMBELA – The Provincial Anti-Hijacking Task Team in Ehlanzeni, working in collaboration with the Mbombela Law Enforcement Intervention Team, successfully intercepted a vehicle transporting a large quantity of suspected dagga on Friday, 27 March.
At approximately 17:00, members were conducting routine tracking and tracing operations in the Ehlanzeni area when they received information regarding a white Toyota Quantum suspected of transporting illicit substances. Acting swiftly on the information, the team mobilised to the identified location. Upon arrival, members of the Provincial Anti-Hijacking Task Team found that the Mbombela Law Enforcement Intervention Team had already stopped the vehicle at the Nelspruit CBD.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 25 compressed bags of dagga. The total weight of the confiscated dagga is 893.05 kilograms, with an estimated street value of R5 million.

The driver of the vehicle, a 29-year-old male, was arrested at the scene and is expected to face charges of possession and dealing in dagga. In addition to the dagga, an amount of R3,337.00 in cash was seized. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime was also confiscated.
The suspect is expected to appear at the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 30 March 2026.
