SENOTLOLE- Premier, Mandla Ndlovu handed over a new house last Friday to the Mandla family describing the handover as a restoration of hope and dignity.

Speaking during the handover, Ndlovu said the house was the fruit of engagements held during his first 100 days in office, where he met with key stakeholders, including Absa Bank.

“I told them my vision for the province and I appealed to Absa to assist me in building houses for families outside of the government RDP system,” said Ndlovu.

Absa committed to funding the construction of five houses over two financial years, investing R1.2 million per annum into the initiative.

Ndlovu said two weeks ago, the partnership delivered another home to the Mashigo family in Bushbuckridge.

“I am grateful to Absa for this partnership, kancane, kancane we are touching our people’s lives,” he said.

He said the house represents what can be achieved when government and the private sector work together.

“This home represents a new beginning. It is a tangible expression of what can be achieved when government and the private sector work together to improve the lives of our people,” he said.

“We therefore extend our sincere appreciation to Absa for its generosity and commitment to working with the Mpumalanga Provincial Government.”

Addressing the family, the Premier said: “Here is your beautiful new home. This is more than just a house, this is a place where your children and grandchildren will create precious memories, celebrate important milestones, and find comfort and security.”

“May this home be filled with love, laughter, peace and happiness.”

He also urged the community of Senotlole to protect the home and to be their brother’s keeper.

“Let us continue to work together to build a better, more prosperous Mpumalanga,” he concluded.

MBOMBELA – Premier Mandla Ndlovu today delivered the welcoming address at the 2nd National Labour Relations Conference at The Capital Hotel held under the theme “Building Labour Relations Capacity and Capabilities for the Realisation of South Africa’s Developmental State.”

Addressing delegates, Ndlovu said a capable, ethical and responsive state is not optional but a prerequisite for development, calling on government and labour to work as genuine partners in delivering on promises made to South Africans.

The Premier highlighted Mpumalanga’s Provincial Labour Summit, where COSATU, FEDUSA and SAFTU signed a historic pledge committing to labour peace, sound collective bargaining and uninterrupted service delivery. He said the province has maintained total labour peace over the past year and pledged that his government will remain an objective, fair and reliable custodian of labour relations.

Minister for Public Service and Administration, Inkosi Mzamo Buthelezi, in his keynote address, described public servants as the backbone of the state, saying they are present at every stage of life – “from birth to death – without them there would be no functioning state.”

Acting Deputy Judge President of the Labour Court, Maletsatsi Mahalelo, addressed the growing influence of artificial intelligence and digitisation in the workplace, noting that while technology can assist decision-makers, human judgement, accountability and oversight remain essential.

The three-day conference continues in Mbombela, bringing together government, organised labour, legal institutions and academia.

Premier Mandla Ndlovu and Health MEC, Sasekani Manzini unveiled the new ambulances at the Mbombela Stadium yesterday.
The latest addition brings the province closer to its target of expanding emergency medical services across all communities.
The Premier said the provincial government aims to increase the fleet to 204 ambulances, which would enable two wards out of the province’s 400 wards to share an ambulance.

“We need to have enough ambulances. However, in terms of our target ratio, I don’t think we are there yet. The MEC and I had hoped that we would reach that target during this financial year, but unfortunately we have not.

“This is a journey, and we will eventually achieve our goal of 204 ambulances. Please take care of these vehicles. I also want to express my appreciation to our healthcare workers who continue to care for our people,” said Ndlovu.

“We want to ensure that they arrive at our healthcare facilities on time. Even during protests, people must allow ambulances to pass because they have the right of way,” he said.

Speaking at the Provincial Council on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide meeting in Emalahleni today, Ndlovu, who co-chaired the session, said the fight against GBVF requires collective action.

“Gender-based violence is more than a criminal act. It is a direct attack on the humanity, dignity, and freedom of our women, men, children, and vulnerable groups,” Ndlovu said. “It destroys families, weakens communities, undermines social cohesion, and leaves deep scars that affect generations.”

He stressed that abuse must not be treated as a private matter hidden from public view.
“We cannot become comfortable with statistics while our people continue to live in fear. When violence becomes normalised, when women live in fear, and when children grow up witnessing brutality, we lose that sense of ubuntu. We cease to recognise ourselves in one another,” he said.

The Mpumalanga Provincial Council on GBVF was launched in February 2025 to coordinate and monitor the implementation of prevention strategies, victim support services, law enforcement responses, and community awareness programmes across the province.

MBOMBELA – President Cyril Ramaphosa says outsourcing decapacitates local government.

He was speaking during the closing ceremony of the provincial African National Congress 14th Provincial Conference on Saturday this afternoon at Mbombela Stadium.

When addressing delegates, Ramaphosa touched on a variety of issues, including the procuring of services in local government stating that corruption often happens in the procurement space, particularly in the tender system the country currently has.

“One of the biggest mistakes we have made, is to outsource everything and in the end, we rely on companies and entities that cannot do the work. We need to make use of services internally because outsourcing weakens the capability of the State. It just takes away the capability, the energy, and the innovation that should reside in the municipalities and government.”

READ | ANC commits to fixing local government

He added that municipalities should be assisted in strengthening service delivery in order to serve communities.

“We must make all efforts to promote the growth of our economy. That is the renewal that will help strengthen local government and make sure that through the action plan, we are able to strengthen local government and accelerate service delivery,” he said.

Ramaphosa also warned against government departments underspending, saying money must be spent in the interest of people. He said it is a crime not to spend the money and give it back to National Treasury.

“The money is not spent because of lack of capacity, but because comrades are fighting amongst themselves. We know why it is happening and it must end so that the focus could be in the interest of our people. That is what the ANC lives for. This is what the ANC was established for, to always advance the interest of the people, not individuals,” he warned.

He commended ANC Mpumalanga for hosting a successful conference from March 26 to 28 where the Top 5 was elected, including Mandla Ndlovu (Chairperson), Speedy Mashilo (Deputy Chairperson), Muzi Chirwa (Secretary), Nompumelelo Hlophe (Deputy Secretary) and Sibongile Makushe- Mazibuko (Treasurer).

Meanwhile, Chairperson, Mandla Ndlovu called for unity emphasising on implementation, leading and rebuilding trust within communities.

Premier Ndlovu pleaded with Good samaritans, the community and foundations, to lend a helping hand.
“The damage estimation so far is roughly close to R2 billion and with our fiscus, we cannot fix all the damages incurred.”

The Provincial government confirmed that five charges were laid against Moyane and a full disciplinary process was carried out.

“The HOD was found guilty only on the first charge of negligence related to the approval of the Bid Adjudication Committee recommendation. Based on the outcomes of the disciplinary hearing, the chairperson decided that a written warning be issued as a sanction,” reads a statement issued.

The statement also reveals the recovery of over 80% of the funds claimed from the service provider in connection with the 22 laptop tender investigation. An amount of R685 712.70 has been recovered, with the remaining balance of R170 000.00 expected to be settled by the end of January 2026.

Premier Mandla Ndlovu welcomed the recovery of the funds, emphasising the urgent need to finalise the ongoing disciplinary hearings.

“This is a positive step, but we must ensure that the full amount is recovered. I am pleased that the service provider has assured the department that the remaining balance will be settled by the end of the month. I am also glad that the disciplinary hearing concerning the HOD has been concluded,” said Ndlovu.

MBOMBELA- “The high incidence of road accidents on our roads have been as a result of human error and the excitement of being monied.”

That was the assertion of both Premier Mandla Ndlovu and the MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Jackie Macie at the conclusion of a close knit major roadblock they jointly scrutinised last week.

Ndlovu said: “I do not understand why this year our road fatalities have reached a staggering 143 instead of decreasing. It calls on us to heighten our efforts in quelling the figures at all costs. We were ready to tackle the problems on our roads from the onset when the festive started, to date. Our traffic officers were deployed on all roads leading in and out of the province, including accident hotspots.

READ | Five killed in Ngodwana accident

“The human element needs to be integrated into alleviating our roads being accident-free and ensuring our expected visitors and tourists, alike, descend and depart from our shores safe, hence we mounted and deployed traffic personnel at all places around the province.

“Despite all efforts, we managed to make our presence felt as we left no stone unturned in our efforts to decrease the statistics. I believe we’re on the right track and we shall eventually win this war,” vowed Ndlovu.

It was an all-out effort to act very tough on motorists returning to their respective homes and some returning home after spending the festive season in the province and the neighbouring Republic of Mozambique – the close scrutiny on all vehicles resulted in a very long queue stretching more than three kilometres.

READ MORE | N11 accident claims six lives

A number of discrepancies on vehicles, both light and heavy duty, were conducted with the premier actively conversing with passengers in commercial vehicles and private ones, appealing to them to pay close attention to their respective drivers.

“It is incumbent upon you as passengers, to pay attention to the actions of your drivers because what’s important is for you to arrive at your destinations. If a driver exceeds the speed limit or drives recklessly, it’s incumbent upon you to call him to order to reduce speed or cease his reckless driving or else you’ll never reach your destinations alive, but you’ll be part of the road carnage statistics. Your safe arrival is in your hands,” Premier Ndlovu appealed.

MEC for Safety, Security and Liaison, Jackie Macie was adamant that that human error was responsible for road accidents and fatalities on provincial roads.

He stated that the problem emanates from people being loaded with money and the excitement of travelling to holiday at their respective homes and others having booked holidays in various tourism facilities.

“That excessive excitement leads to the commitment of errors on the roads, thus affecting not only themselves, but even others using the same route, unfortunately, hence I still repeat: human error causes accidents on our roads. Our traffic officers are always posted along all routes, especially the susceptible ones throughout the province, hence their presence contributes to the reduction of accidents and fatalities,” he said.

He pleaded with motorists to stick using official number plates avoid being penalised.

“A unified response by all stakeholders needs to be put into action and ensure we eradicate accidents and fatalities on our roads and create a safer environment for motorists and passengers to reach their destinations in one piece,” Macie pleaded.
