The donation drive is part of government’s commitment to address issues that learners face in rural areas. The drive was also done as a way to curb school absenteeism as some learners cannot afford sanitary towels and others, school shoes.

Chairperson of the School Governing Body (SGB), Carson Dlamini shared his excitement about the donations made to the school. He highlighted that this initiative was a much-needed boost to the learners and will help in encouraging them to attend school.

“We are happy about this donation because of our background. We are s school in a rural area so it would help our kids, some of them are from wrong backgrounds, some of them are vulnerable kids, they have got no parents. So it will help us a lot and it will boost the morale of learning to our kids” Dlamini said.

The Minister said they are committed to support and foster efficient learning to all learner with a programme rolled out annually.

” We visited Tamajane where we handed over school shoes because we do not want any child not to go to school because he doesn’t have shoes. We also made sure that we provide sanitary towels for a girl child, as well as STEM subjects tools for instance calculators and instruments, so those are the things that we handed over in that high school” Nkabane concluded.

She proceeded to conclude the program at the University of Mpumalanga, Mbombela Campus, to engage with students on challenges they are faced with as the 2025 academic year recently commenced in higher institutions of learning.
