Three die in collision near UMP turnoff

Three people were killed this afternoon when three vehicles were involved in a head-on and side swipe collisions.

The accident occurred near the University of Mpumalanga turnoff towards Karino. The vehicles involved include two hatchbacks and a bakkie.

The deceased includes both drivers of the hatchbacks and one passenger. They succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Two occupants in the bakkie escaped with slight injuries.

The Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi, said an investigation is underway. Reckless driving is suspected to have caused the crash.
