Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a toddler fell off a moving taxi and died in Nhlazatshe on Sunday afternoon.
The 26-year-old mother was reportedly traveling from town with her one-year-old child when they both fell off a moving taxi.
Spokesperson for the Elukwatini Police Station, Sergeant Wiseman Nkosi said that the mother claimed that the door of the taxi she was traveling in kept on opening on the way.
“When they reached the Tribal Bar after a hump, the door opened. She said she she doesn’t recall what happened after that – she just saw herself by the drainage system next to the road,” said Nkosi.

The child was injured and Emergency Services were called to the scene. However, the child succumbed to her injuries in hospital.
